19 bikes joined us for this mainland run to Dorset, it was a lovely day and the route displayed some great scenery. The main reason for the run was a visit to Side Ways Motorcycles at Crossways just outside Dorchester who were having a Victory Motorcycle Open Day. We spent about an hour and a half looking at the bikes before continuing our ride. As you know, we use the layoff system, unfortunately someone did not remain at a layoff point and a number of bikes missed a turning, which created a real problem for the Tail End Bike. It is so important that markers remain at the layoff point until the whole group has passed, this can be a few minutes or 10, 15, or 20 minutes, as the group can get broken up due to traffic conditions. When you are a marker you MUST STAY PUT until Tail End Charlie turns up. The rest of the ride was through some spectacular countryside especially along the Tank Firing Range at East/West Lulworth, which is a hilltop road with breathtaking views, which leads to Corfe Castle. We used the Chain Link Ferry at Sandbanks, through Poole, returning past Hurn Airport. Just before the Airport is a pub called the Curlew where we have stopped many times, they serve food all day. We returned on the 6.45 Ferry which made it quite a long day.

The age group 41-81 is flexible . Safe sensible riding is what is important, so if you are younger - please join us
